David said: “The overall aim is to steer schools to evidenced based interventions wherever possible. In some areas we do not have the answers right now so we must not stifle local initiatives. They have to follow good practice guidelines so that, in time, they will add to the evidence base. This will be a key area of Healthy Schools Plus and the rigorous evaluation of the programme, which is being set up, will add to this knowledge base.”
