Statement of Support

Unfortunately, due to adverse weather conditions, Karen Turner was unable to attend the launch.  This is the statement that was prepared and read out at the conference.

Statement of support from Karen Turner, Head of Children & Young People’s Public Health Programme at the Department of Health:

I am so sorry that I and the Healthy Schools central team are not able to be with you all today. We wanted to join your celebrations and share the excitement of launching the South West region’s ground-breaking Healthy Schools Plus programme. As you will be aware, London has come to a stand still as a result of the snow. We are unable to travel into London from our homes across the city and its environs, and trains to Bristol from Paddington have been cancelled. So, we wish you all the very best for your launch and look forward to seeing how the programme unfolds over the forthcoming years. I hope you all have a very positive and enjoyable day.
