Peter Cloke

Peter Cloke is the Deputy Regional Director (DRD) and Director for Children and Learners (DCL) at Government Office South West and lead DRD for Devon at GOSW. He leads DCSF work in the region, particularly focusing on supporting and challenging Local Authorities and their partners on delivery of services for children and young people.

His team’s work includes leadership of the implementation of The Children’s Plan including the full range of changes proposed for Youth and 14 -19 arrangements. Peter also leads on Youth issues for the GO network.  He has held a number of posts in the Government Office, mainly related to education and training, but including leadership of the region’s regeneration work in deprived communities, and the European Social Fund.

He led the region’s work to establish the Connexions Service from 2000. Prior to this he taught for twenty years in secondary education and worked for Devon LEA as an Adviser for two years from 1988. Peter is a qualified OFSTED and ALI inspector.
